Why I Stand with the Occupy Movement

Several friends of mine have been involved in the Occupy Movement and although I have not been able to be active in it myself, I support the awareness that it is raising about issues in our country.  I know there are people, fellow friends and Adoptee Rights activists, who don't agree with the movement and that's fine.  I am not here to tell you how to think or feel or alienate you because you don't agree with me.

Here is a clip I wanted to share:

I put it this way, I am a hard working person who could have been born in a state which denies me access to my Original Birth Certificate because I am adopted.  The lack of access would have stood to eventually impact my ability to vote, travel internationally, drive a car, and perhaps in some cases, to gain employment. One big reason I don't have my OBC? Because entities with much more money and political influence than I lobby against my rights. I work hard but I will never have the power, wealth, and influence that they do. Yet what they want is what happens most of the time and it impacts me. I will never be a mega-powerful lobbyist. I will never have millions of dollars.  Will my legislators still listen to what I have to say?

I am the 99%.

  2. Amanda - I have watched this since it began and the media hyprocrisy in not covering it or mocking it and I have to believe they are deliberately not covering it because of their corportate sponsors - so much for factual news.

I have hesitated to talk about it because I am now a Canadian but am happy to see it happening in the US, as well as in Canada even though we don't have the same issues we have similar concerns.

Trying to post this via Anonymous - but by the adopted ones blogger

  6. Wow! Also commenting from north of the border. I kept thinking as I was watching that extremely powerful clip - Is the coherency of the assembly's statement what prompted the violence against the protesters last night?
