The Declassified Adoptee

I am the founder of The Declassified Adoptee multi-media project.

Mission Statement: To use a multi-media approach to create adoptee-centric adoption content. To modernize adoption laws, social norms, discussions, and practices based on the human rights guided by the talents, skills, and wisdom of adopted and fostered people. To remove the barriers of stereotype and stigma associated with being adopted for the next generation of youth who will walk in my shoes.

Lost Daughters

I co-founded and currently lead the Lost Daughters writing project.

Mission Statement: To provide an adoptee-centric space that brings readers the perspectives and narratives of adopted women, and to highlight their strength, resiliency, and wisdom. We aim to critically discuss the positives and negatives of the institution of adoption from a place of empowerment and peace. We aim to bring change to the culture of adoption that undervalues the adoptee voice by lifting our voices as women who have adoption as an intersecting variable across many aspects of life and identity, and empowering other adopted women in the process.

Roots Incorporated

I co-founded Roots Incorporated with my business partner, Stephanie Oyler of AdopteeLIT.

About: Roots Inc. is a budding adoptee-owned, adoptee-centric business based in the United States. We improve the lives of adopted and fostered people across the lifespan through podcasting, writing, and life story work with funds for free genetic testing. Roots Incorporated is building a service based on three main components:

Service: We are building partnerships with genetic testing companies to provide DNA testing kits at free or low cost to adopted and fostered youth. We are pairing these kits with our own guidance and consultation on integrating genetic/ancestral information into the adoptee's daily life through Lifestory Work.

Education: We are developing classes and workshops based on our own areas of expertise that we think are needed most in the adoption community. Our two current programs are The Motherloss Project and Over, Under Miss. Through Motherloss, we explore how parent loss impacts adoptees as we and our parents age. Through Over, Under, Miss, we explore adoptees, diagnosis, and mental health treatment.

Entertainment: We are currently writing episodes for a soon-to-be launched podcast where we will feature content from Motherloss and Over, Under, Miss and other compelling stories and interviews. It is our hope that contributions from our listeners will help support our free/low-cost service and education for kids and families.
